Today is also Friday the 13th, which is suppose to be bad luck. So I think it is fitting to post bad news for those fans of Willa Ford on a day like today. I was speechless to see that one of the top three dance contestants on Dancing With the Stars was actually eliminated. But who am I kidding; this is a popularity contest, right. Willa Ford was born January 22, 1981 in Ruskin, Florida. From youth, she studied opera and began her musical career at age eight, when she started with the Tampa Bay Children's Choir. By the time she reached age 11, she had moved on from the children's choir to the Tampa-based Children's Performing Arts Troupe Entertainment Revue. Her nautural music talent and dedication let a role as a featured soloist. Her childhood exploits go on, but she still managed to graduate from East Bay High School with a 4.25 GPA, maintained the Honor Roll throughout high school, and was in Honor/AP classes. Absurd talent and intellect wrapped in an unparalleled pop star body. That is Willa Ford. She made the decision to move to Los Angeles, California in pursuit of her career dreams. In 1999, Willa Ford, then performing under the stage name Mandah, was signed to MCA. She released a song called "Lullaby" on the double-platinum soundtrack Pokemon: The First Movie. This help her land a tour a an opening act for the Backstreet Boys. Willa Ford also had a relationship with one of the members, Nick Carter. The relationship soured and her career also began to stagnate at this time in her life.

Moving past the celebrity gossip, in 2001, Willa Ford's hard work led to the production of her first Album with Atlantic Records,Willa Was Here. Willa Ford teamed up with some fantastic producers and writers that were renowned for work with Destiny's Child, Aerosmith and Ricky Martin. Willa Ford wrote the first single, I Want to Be Bad and co-wrote one of the other tracks. It's said that unlike many of her contemporaries, Willa is determined to pen most of her own lyrics.
"I mostly come up with stories from my own life, but I also think about stuff my friends are going through. And sometimes I just make up a character that I want to be, like 'I Wanna Be Bad.'"
The album Willa Was Here (released in Summer 2001) did not do as well as expected, reaching number 56 on the pop charts, but the single "I wanna be Bad" grabbed most of the attention. The song was used in a commercial for 7-Up and became a theme song for the Six Flags them parks. Fast forward a year later and Willa Ford is co-writing of a duet with South Korean pop star Park Ji-yoon entitled "Nastified," which appeared on Ji-yoon's fifth album.
In 2003 Willa Ford released a Dance Song titled "A Toast to Men" featuring guest rapper Lady May. This single was from an unreleased album, SexySexObsessive that she originally wanted to call Porn Poetry, but her record label would not allow it. Disagreements and legalities between her and Atlantic records and Willa Ford moved on in search of a new label. Fans are still waiting to see what happens with the album.
Willa Ford is a pop icon, like it or not. She was voted number 48 in Stuff Magazines Sexiest Online Women. The self proclaimed bad girl of pop is putting on dancing shoes for the hit TV show Dancing With the Stars.
